Publisher's blue cloth with red border and stamped vignette in gilt. Bindings tight and square. Over opened at page 64/65. Text clean, light even toning some spotting. Moderate handling wear. Corners touched. Illustrated with tissue guarded frontispiece and photographs. --- 8vo, xvi, 354 p. incl. front., illus., plates, ports., fold. map. 21 1/2cm. index and notes. In 1891 The Bishop of Exeter accompanied by Miss Bickersteth went to Japan for two months to visit his son the Bishop of Japan This is an admirable account of Japan from the point of view and there is a full description of the earthquake of October 1891 and among other two views of the destruction caused by the earthquake. [The Parents' Review, Volume 4, page 743.]
