Stiff grey wrs., very good, oversize ca. 22 x 29.5 cm., 9 color tipped in plates, 14 b.w. plates, 19p. text, bibliography, censor seal dates, 27 plates in all with a series of Hrunobu prints, Dutch text. This work covers the printer & carver techniques on Japanese prints & woodblock printed books. With an interesting series of progressively printed Harunobu prints, showing the tech- nique of the color woodblock printing process. A tracing of Japanese print history in Europe, Japanese folk art & decor- ating, methods of Japanese woodblock printing, the use of the 'baren' and rubbing techniques, the kind of paper &c. .
