About This Item

Quezon City, Philippines GCF Books, 1979. Hardcover First Edition (1979), so stated. First Edition (1979), so stated. Very Good+ in Very Good+ DJ: The Book shows wear to the head of the backstrip, causing some slight loss; else flawless; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing a single small - though rather serious - imperfection. Brigth and clean. Corners sharp. Not so very far from "As New". The DJ shows matching loss to the head of the backstrip; else flawless; unclipped; mylar-protected. Oblong 8vo. (8.35 x 9.2 x 0.5 inches). 95 pages. Profusely illustrated with Color Photography by Ed Santiago and numerous black & white drawings and designs as well is Jeepney specs, technical drawings, etc. . Language: English. Weight: 20 ounces. Decorated endpapers. Hardback with DJ. The Jeepney is now a Filipino tradition. Bought over by American GI's as a temporary solution to Manila's post-war transportation problem, it has become a way of life on the roads, but almost unrecognizable from the original. This book traces it's history and many uses over the years; with colorful photographs of the many incarnations it has had. Remodeled, decorated, ornamented and painted in a myriad of styles and colors, it became a way of life for many of it's owners. Bright, colorful and unique.
