About This Item
New York: America's Future, Inc, 1938. Hardcover. Foreword by Douglas Johnson. 8vo. Blue cloth with gilt lettering. xvi, 249pp. Frontispiece. Good plus. Spine and edges sunned; pastedowns age toned as usual. A tight, decent first edition of this biography by the Indiana congressman (1886-1974). Tipped to front pastedown is a large printed bookplate signed large and bold by Pettengill and bearing a printed statement from the publisher, media magnate Frank Gannett (1876-1957), who also boldly signs. Presented to F.W. Woodward (1888-1975), an important Iowa newspaper publisher. Laid in is a publicity leaflet for this book.
