Toronto: Ryerson Press. Good. 1940. Limited Edition. Hardcover. xiv, 39, plates, 45-60 pp. Index. Coloured frontis, 16 plates b/w, one portrait of MacDonald and another plate in colour. Charming text woodcuts as well. Limited edition of 500 printed in November 1940. Introduction by Thoreau MacDonald, the painter's son, who also designed the book. Orange cloth with gilt oak leaf, covers a bit worn, extremities rubbed, spine sunned and spine gilt faded. Interior has school book plate and removed pocket scar, the library stamped every page of this book, including the plates and sometimes the stamp is on the edge of the plates (one way to stop people cutting the plates out!).Otherwise clean and sturdy. Includes a Catalogue Raisonne. An acceptable copy of this scarce work on one of the Group of Seven, priced low to reflect it's ex-lib status. ; Ex-Library; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 60 pages .
