New York: Doran, 1923. From the Bart Auerbach Collection. Spine dull and with a crease, a fore-corner a bit jammed. 8vo. Original tan cloth and marbled boards. First edition, second printing as usual with tipped-in corrected title-page (only one located at Yale is known of the first printing). Presentation copy, inscribed by Wylie on front flyleaf to the wife of the author Joseph Hergesheimer: "To Dorothy Hergesheimer / From Eleanor Wylie / December 1923 / This Excess in Veneer." Wylie presentation copies are uncommon. BAL 23495. (BA).
