Jenty's Lectures Vol 1

Oxford Theatre, 1757. Good. Leather bound, first printing, 1757. First volume of a three volume set. Title page reads: "A Course of Anatomico-Physiological Lectures on the Human Structure and Animal Oeconomy...by Charles Nicholas Jenty, M.A. Professor of Anatomy and Surgery". Also contains an advertisement for a book by the same author "An Anatomical Demonstration of the Human Structure". Dedication page reads: "To the Right Honourable the Earl of Macclesfield, President, and the Council and Members of the Royal Society of London...London, June 30, 1757". Binding is in good condition with light wear considering the book is almost three hundred years old. There is a pen inscription on the first page which, while it is still attached, is starting to come free of binding. Some water damage is clearly visible on the first page but fades rapidly and disappears entirely after less than a dozen leaves into the book. Spotting visible on the top, bottom and fore-edges of the pages but page faces remain mostly clean with only occasional blemishes. Most page faces are the same colour with only a few appearing darker than others. A few pages are slightly bent at the very ends (a mm or two) as though unintentionally ear marked. One internal page contains a brief note in (what is now) brown ink in an old fashioned hand. Born and educated in Paris before lecturing in London, Jenty's works are all scarce with purportedly very low print counts.
