The corners of the covers are rubbed & there is light rubbing to the leather. Half-title, title & 288 pages. The fore-edge & bottom edge are lightly foxed. The pages are darkened & there is foxing or staining to the margins of several pages. Despite its flaws, a very good, handsomely bound book. <p>First edition.<p>A title in the series Les Femmes des Tuileries.<p>From the library of Alice Maud Livingston with her signature and the date 1894 on the flyleaf.<p>Arthur Leon Imbert de Saint-Amand [1834-1900] was a nineteenth-century French aristocrat, choreographer and historian of his times. He is best known for his accounts, often imbued with firsthand information, of the French aristocracy.<p>This volume deals with the youth of Marie Amelie [1782-1866] who later became Queen of France when her husband Louis-Philippe, Duke of Orleans acceded to the French throne following the July Revolution of 1830.<p>The text is in French.
