Clean and bright; no owners' marks or bookplates; first volume has scattered, small spots of rubbing in the gilding along the top edges of the pages and a few scratches on the bottom edges, and second volume has a tiny surface tear at the top right front corner of the cover, otherwise excellent. Two volumes, 785pp. Full gray leather, gilt titles and decoration, bound-in ribbon markers, decorative endpapers, all page edges gilded, introductory note laid in. From "The Library of Great Lives
