Np. Softcover/Paperback. Near Fine. Np: Np, ca. 1983. Vintage original film script, 11 x 8 1/2" (28 x 22 cm.). Agency script, internally reproduced during the film's pre-production, with a few corrections in ink on a few pages. Beige generic Writers and Artists Agency wrappers. Title page present, undated, with credit for director and screenwriter John Sayles. Brad bound, 104 leaves, with last page of text numbered 105. Xerographic duplication, rectos only. Near fine in very good+ wrappers. Early draft script for the 1983 film, seen here under the working title Linea. A landmark in lesbian representation in American film history. Parish 133: "Affecting and sincere, Lianna is a far stronger exploration of lesbian love than [the handful of other lesbian movies of its era]... Remains the definitive U.S. feature of lesbian love." An unhappily married woman realizes that she is a lesbian after she falls in love with a female college professor, and must come to terms with her newfound sexuality.
