About This Item

New York: The Macmillan Company, 1970. A handsome edition in blue leatherette with a matching slipcase. The book is in Fine condition save for the front cover panel where some of the silver ink has rubbed away from the embossed seagull's tail. Some wrinkling to the end paper (please see photographs); possibly occurred during manufacturing.

A 1970 edition with "29" on the copyright page; an early slip-cased edition that is signed by the author. The fragile silver slipcase has light scuff marks and minor discoloration that is typical of this edition but is overall solid with no tears or breaks.

Small inscription to front fly leaf from previous owner. Hard Cover Leatherette, Slipcased. Parrish Books guarantees all signatures as authentic.

Synopsis

Jonathan Livingston Seagull, written by Richard Bach, is a fable in novella form about a seagull learning about life and flight, and a homily about self-perfection. First published in 1970 as "Jonathan Livingston Seagull — a story", it became a favorite throughout the United States. By the end of 1972, over a million copies were in print, Reader's Digest had published a condensed version, and the book reached the top of the New York Times Best Seller list where it remained for 38 weeks.

Though the inspiring tale of one seagull who realises there is so much more to flying than most realise, this book puts beautifully into words and stunning pictures our largely untapped potential hidden within the gift of life.

awesome theme and awesome way of narrating the story!
