London: Tavsitock Publications Limited, 1955. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Good. First edition. Paper covers. 23.5 × 16cm, pp1-108. This copy belonged to Irene de Castillejo and has been signed by her to the front cover. Castillejo (1885-1967) was a writer and Jungian analyst. She fled Spain for Switzerland after the Civil War started and spent the war years in London. Returning to Switzerland, she began her studies in Jungian psychology in Zurich working with C G Jung, Emma Jung and Toni Wolff. On her return to London, she established a psychotherapy practice specialising in the role of women in the world of today, and is best remembered for her posthumously published classic Knowing Woman: A Feminine Psychology. The first issue of the Journal of Analytical Psychology, the leading international Jungian publication, renowned for its emphasis on the clinical practice of in-depth analysis and its exploration of the relationship between analytical psychology and psychoanalysis. The articles in this issue are: J Layard, Boar-Sacrifice; R Hobson, Archetypal Themes in Depression; R Moody, On the Function of Counter-Transference; L Stein, Loathsome Women; A Alleby, The Father Archetype in Feminine Psychology. Anthony Storr contributes a short communication entitled "A Note on Cybernetics and Analytical Psychology". as well as book reviews, critical notices etc. Condition: Good condition for age. There is some light fading and wear to the spine but otherwise remaining in strong readable condition.
