Auburn, NY: Derby.. GOOD - VG book. Full sheep with black leather spine label.. 1846 (1838cp). Fifth edition.. Hardcover. GOOD-VG book. FINE map. Worn. Label reads PARKER'S EXPLORING TOUR. 8vo xvi,(17),18-422,6pp. Front hinge held by cords alone. . Tight binding. Light foxing but no other soiling or staining. Howes P89 states the map is the first to show the Oregon interior accurately. Map has had its inner hinge repaired with archival repair tape. Repair solely in the margin area. The map has 12 fold line intersections but only one with a pin hole. NO other pin holes and obviously, no tears or chips. Six dime size foxing spots. Outermost fold line age browned. Otherwise almost as bright & clean as new. Map dated 1838, printed in Utica, NY. An important map and very seldom found in any edition. .
