London 1904: Constable London 1904: Constable 136 pp with 5 sepia plates. Text is clean and unmarked, previous owner's name on front endpapers. DJ has several chips missing along lower edge, and a strip of tape along the spine. Maria, Vincent Germon, wife of an officer of the 13th Bengal Native Infantry, survived the siege of Lucknow where 3000 people in the Residency held out against a force of 20,000 Indian soldiers and irregulars in 1857. Mrs. Germon makes the reader live along side her through the seige and the dirrt, overcrowding, boils, lice and death of friends. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Hard Cover. Very Good/Fair..
