London: Printed for W. Miller and for J. Archer and M. Mahon, Dublin, 1807. First edition. Spine ends chipped, front joint crack but holding on cords, text very clean and else very good. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown with the motto: "Credunt quod vident" . cix, 336 pp, [8] pp. catalog of William Miller at rear, engraved frontipiece; 8vo, contemporary speckled calf gilt, morocco lettering piece.

The lengthy preface and introduction provide an annotated list of previous works on Irish travel, geography, history, etc., as well as detailed history of the island, and a brief gazetteer for the tourist. Sir Richard Colt Hoare (1758-1838) was an English antiquarian, traveller, artist, and amateur archaeologist. He authored several travel accounts, of which this is the first. His first publication was a translation from the Latin of 'The Historical Works of Geraldus Cambrensis."
