Fine. 35 cm; 843 pages, 5 unnumbered leaves of plates, illustrations. In half polished black leather over green cloth, with red leather roundel on upper board within a stamped gilt lozenge; facsimile autograph in gilt on lower board. Spine in six compartments with red leather title label and gilt ornaments. All edges brightly gilt. Protected in publisher's slipcase of green cloth with cream-colored paper label. Effectively as new.

Facsimile of Darwin's handwritten journal of the crucial voyage of the Beagle, with a preface by King Charles III (Prince Charles at the time), and an introduction by Richard Darwin Keynes.
