Ini publisher's red cloth, gilt titles stamped to spine and front cover. Spine and head of front cover sunned, some soiling to spine. A Good to Very Good copy of Spratlin's biography of the 16th-century Afro-Hispanic humanist and Latin poet Juan de Sesa, enslaved as a child in Granada. This copy inscribed by author on ffep, "For Dr. Cromwell/ with every good wish/ Valaurez B. Spratlin/ Washington, D.C./ November 1, 1938." The recipient was Otelia Cromwell - professor, literary scholar, and first African American woman to receive a PhD. from Yale. . Good. Hardcover .
