First American edition of the first in this series of inventive mysteries featuring East Anglian antiques dealer, divvy and scamp Lovejoy. Very good in very good dust jacket with light waer at the tips ands spine ends. In this opening offering, Lovejoy's scout Tinker Dill has located a promising customer who said he wanetr to start a collection of rare duelling pistols and wants a particularly rare pair. They are known in the antiques world as the "Judas pair", the last of thirteen sets made by a flintlock maker, and they had never actually been seen. Lovejoy's search for them involves a murder and his two favorite things---antiques and beautiful women.
