About This Item
London: Jonathan Cape, 1981. FIRST UK EDITION. 8vo. Original brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Extremities bruised, bump to bottom edge of upper board, spotting to top edge. Else, clean and tidy. In the original dust jacket: price-clipped, spine sunned, a little creasing to edges. Very good/ very good Gordimer's novel, which imagined a near-future for her homeland in which apartheid has been overturned through a civil war, was banned in South Africa upon publication.
