In a gilt frame with dead. Depicts Jupiter's surface with hydrogen flames and "lava" pouring out of the top of a cliff, with a "lake" below of liquid ammonia. Bonestell would often do a smalller, fully realized painting of his subject, then, if he liked it, he would follow up with a larger version that he would sign. This is the first, smaller, unsigned version of the work.
