About This Item

Osborne Publishers, Inc, Santa Clara, CA, 1987; First Edition; 8vo, 314 pages; illustrated blue cloth boards. Biography of pioneer American aviatrix Bobbi Trout (1906-2003), who came to California in 1920 and at age 22 solo’d at Burdett Fuller’s airport on South Western Avenue in Los Angeles on April 30, 1928 . Trout went on to become holder of countless aviation records and distinctions such as the woman’s solo endurance record. She competed in the very first cross country "Powder Puff Derby" from Santa Monica-to-Cleveland, and was a founding member of the pioneer women’s flying organization, the "Ninety-Nines," as well as an influential member of the Zontians. Profusely illustrated with vintage photographs. An informative and entertaining book, with much on the history of early California aviation. Inscribed and signed by Bobbi Trout to a fellow Zontian on the front paste down. Additionally signed on the facing page by author Skip Mazzio, publisher of the Aviation Journal. Fine, in illustrated cloth boards, without dust jacket, as issued. A sparkling copy.
