Hardcover. 149 pp. Near fine (touch of scraping to the bottom edge of the front board) in fine dust jacket. Set in Greenwich Village beginning in 1946, Broyard tells of making his first bid for happiness, moving in with a young painter, the difficult and Challenging Sherri Donatti who, he tells the reader "...never wore underpants and who embodied the new trands in art, sex, and phychosis...". Broyard tells their story, by turns comic and poignant, while describing along the way his meetingsCaitlan and Dylan Thomas, William Gaddis, Maya Deren, Dwight MacDonald, and others.

Synopsis

Anatole Broyard was a book critic, columnist, and editor for The New York Times for eighteen years.  He is the author of the critically acclaimed Intoxicated by My Illness (Clarkson Potter, 1992).  He died in 1990 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
