Size is octavo (8vo), 9"/23cm h. Bound in publisher's blue cloth, gilt lettering to spine and front board, stylized gilt autoharp and vegetation to front board. Light green topstain. Matte color pictorial dj. Plain white endpapers. [1-8], 9-278, [2]. Translator's preface and acknowl; contents; Proem, then L chaps, epilogue, glossary, and notes. B&w illus throughout. Condition notes: A solid copy of a delightful prose edition of this classic work of Finnish folkore, with the following flaws: several small chips and tears to unclipped, mylar-sheathed dustjacket with some loss of surface integrity to rear next to and running parallel to spine; tanning. Lower corners bumped, spine ends rolled, light soiling to edges; binding solid but slightly cocked. Excellent color retention to cloth and gilding. Interior shows neat blue pen Christmas 1952 gift inscription to head ffep. Pages and endpapers generally lightly tanned. Small 5 mm closed tear to head first blank page. Enchanting illustrations throughout in b&w. We personally inspect every book we offer.

Furrowed Brow Books was established in 2020. The bookstore's owner, Paul Purman, grew up in an old farmhouse full of books. Paul had been providing online booksales since 2008 through several popular online sales venues. In 2021 Paul was accepted as a member of the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (IOBA), and graduated from the annual Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota).
