About This Item

Boston, Little, Brown & Company/A New York Graphic Society Book, 1986. . First edition, fourth printing; signed presentation copy from the artist; 4to (c. 270 x 260 mm.); photographic portraits throughout; publisher's red cloth, dust-jacket, a fine, sharp copy.
An excellent copy of this retrospective on the portraits of Karsh over the years, featuring a wealth of notables from all walks of life. The photographer has affectionately inscribed this copy 'Inscribed for Gordon Parks; my distinguished colleague, and a universal man. In friendship, Yousuf Karsh, Feb 2, 1990'.

Gordon Parks (1912-2006) was an American photographer, musician, writer and film director, who became prominent as a photojournalist in the 1940s through 1970s, particularly on issues of civil rights, poverty and African-Americans, but he also won renown for his glamour photography.
