About This Item

Redwood City, CA: Johnson Meyers, 1964. First Edition. Fine/Near Fine. First edition. Two volumes bound in tan cloth with maroon lettering, housed in original slipcase. Fine in Near Fine dust jackets with small tears at heads, housed in Very Good slipcase with rubbing and light wear. Lacking glassine jacket-protectors. Illustrations also have inserted glassine protective leaves. An excellent, uncommon set showcasing Margaret Keane's iconic big-eyed waif art, unfairly credited at the time to her husband, Walter. Her life and plagiarism case formed the basis of the 2014 Tim Burton film Big Eyes.
