Book was originally published by Éditions Gallimard, Paris, in 2020. Author has signed her name on the title page. Book is unread, unmarked, tight, straight and bright. Author's debut book was "Our Lady of the Nile" which was chosen as one of the best memoirs of the last fifty years by the New York Times. In 2021 Mukasonga won the Simone de Beauvoir Prize for Women's Freedom. She was born in Rwanda in 1956. This book was a finalist for Best Translated Literature for the 2022 National Book Awards.
