Small spot of wear to spine head and top corners. Sunning to tail edge of front board. Dust jacket is cropped to flaps, foxed and soiled, heavily chipped to extremities, rubbed to spine. This is a curious story, and a powerful one. As a piece of harrowing, almost mesmeric suspense, it is a brilliant tour de force, but as a masterful study in character, in the slow moral disintegration of a man, it is more than that. It is as skillful a study of the dual nature of man as has appeared since Stevenson wrote Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
