About This Item
Boston / Chicago: The Pilgrim Press, 1929. Orville Petty was a chaplain during World War I and was given the following Silver Star citation: "By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Lieutenant (Chaplain) Orville A. Petty, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Chaplain Petty distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the 102d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Seicheprey, France, 20 April 1918, in evacuating the wounded and burying the dead under heavy shell fire." This is a book of his poetry. All poems are about Christmas and the book is SIGNED BY PETTY. The dust jacket has seen better days, yet its image of a little glowing house on a snowy night is still clear and lovely. The book itself is in Very Good condition.. Signed by Author. Hard Cover. Very Good/Worn . 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
