Octavo, pp. frontis [274] [adverts], all plates present. title page printed in black, original pictorial yellow cloth, front panel stamped in white and black. First printing of this the Harper & Brother edition with Published June 1902 to the copyright page. This edition omits "The Court of the Dragon." The author's second book and first collection of short stories. White enamel lettering largely perished from spine, cloth bright with light fading to rear, pages clean, binding tight, light pushing to corners, spine, small owner stamp to top of front end page. A very good copy of this attractive and important edition of a classic collection of American short fiction. .

Synopsis

The King in Yellow is a collection of short stories written by Robert W. Chambers and published in 1895. The stories could be categorized as early horror fiction or Victorian Gothic fiction, but the work also touches on mythology, fantasy, mystery, science fiction and romance. The first four stories in the collection involve a fictional two-act play of the same title.
