The Kingdom of the Pearl, New York: Brentano's, undated (1920s). Quarto, copy No. 151 of an edition of 675, pp. [viii], 151, 10 illustrations by Edmund Dulac tipped in, under tissue guards, printed boards quarter-bound in vellum with gilt lettering and nautical decoration to spine, paper label on front, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Worldcat lists the date of printing as 1925, other sources disagree or say nothing at all. Rosethal's text covers the history of pearls, their treatment, harvesting and marketing; Dulac's illustrations are in a Persian style. Condition of this book: Covers soiled, spine darkened, spine ends and edges chipped. Leaves toning with occasional minor staining, plates fine, overall good and sound. Shipments outside the U.S. may be subject to local taxes. Special Limited Edition, first issue in this format. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
