About This Item
New York: Farrar & Rinehart, (1946). First U.S. edition of the author's first novel, which was first published in 1940 in England by Jarrolds shortly before they were bombed out in the blitz (from dust jacket). Red cloth boards speckled, slight offset from boards to endpapers but otherwise about very good in good, lightly soiled and somewhat scraped/rubbed dust jacket with closed tear on front panel affecting second "S" in "KISS" (still legible) and edges worn (rubbed and small chips and tears).
