New York: E P Dutton, 1952. The sixth Mike Hammer mystery. Basis for the 1955 Robert Aldrich film starring Ralph Meeker as Hammer. First printing in a first state jacket with the circular "A New Mike Hammer Mystery" badge on the cover and the $2.50 price on the lower front flap. Gently bumped and rubbed, spine cocked. Jacket rubbed with small chips and tears, including 1/2" chips at the upper spine folds and front corner. Flaps very faintly foxed, in mylar. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good.
Synopsis
A beautiful woman's cold-blooded murder has the mark of the Mafia. Although warned to stay away, Hammer won't stop until he gets revenge.
