The author details various aspects of Carson's life, starting at age fifteen when he ran away from home in Missouri to join a Santa Fe-bound caravan, to about 1853. With 20 full-page drawings by Howard Simon. The author completed the biography with his volume II. --- In wraps with detail from Maynard Dixon's color painting "Mountain Man, Oregon Trail" to front panel. --- A bright, tightly-bound, newish copy though with slight sunning to a strip of back panel near the spine.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; xiv, (6), 488 pages .
