About This Item
Moscow, 1948. Early Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition. Corners worn, rubbing to boards, light bronwing ot pages, binding slightly shaken, a few faint dampstains. A later printing of the first edition of this Soviet cookbook that was written to replace decadent bourgeois cookbooks that existed before the revolution (esp Elena Molokhovets' A Gift to Young Housewives). Despite this, much of the cookbook consists of lavish, sybaritic meals that would have been quite at home in Gilded Age America. Early editions are scarce. A second edition appeared in 1952 and it was reprinted repeatedly. Size: 8vo. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Cooking, Wine & Dining; Inventory No: CAT000893.
