About This Item

Quality Book Club Edition - in very good condition - has markings from use - due to differing weights in books, postage maybe adjusted at checkout.

When George Langelaan escaped from France by way of Dunkirk plastic surgeons reshaped his face - so that he could be parachuted back as a secret agent.

In this book he tells of what happened when, after thorough training, he took up his grim and exciting task. Combating the German occupation forces meant danger and hardship in plenty, for Langelaan suffered imprisonment and ill-treatment at the hands of the Vichy authorities, but his indomitable humour meant that the life had its lighter moments too. Even after his escape with a dozen companions across the Pyrenees, his adventures were not ended. He found plenty more during the invasion of Algeria and the final liberation of France.
