Boards ruled in blind and gilt; decorative oval design in gilt on both boards. a.e.g. The title page is bordered with a wood cut scroll work design. Boards are mildly worn, with a small crease in the center of the spine. Text is remarkable clean and bright. A beautiful book, with a warm, supple feel. *** Included in this works of Lactantius are: "The Divine Institutes", a treatise intended to point out the futility of pagan beliefs; "On the Wrath of God", a treatise directed at the Stoics; "The Works of God", written during Diocletian's persecutions; and the poem"Pheonix". Interest in Lactantius was renewed in the Renaissance, in large part for his elaborately rhetorical Latin style. ***.
