Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for FO book stamp on the front pastedown and his initial stamp on the textblock bottom. Book Condition: Very Good; light bumping to head, tail, and tips. No DJ per say but it did have one that is now cut and pasted to the front endpapers in sections. Brown boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on the spine. 288 pp 4to. The rise to dominance of machine laces resulted from the ability to manufacture a product that was attractive to wear and relatively inexpensive. This book is based on first-hand observations of thousands of lace examples, on a study of the machines in action, and on examination of the numerous patents registered for machine nets and laces from the 1760s to the present day. over 400 illustrations, glossary, and reading list. A clean very presentable copy.
