A handsomely-arranged photographic roster featuring a handful of officers (including two women) and the seventy-two female members of Squadron 3743, Flight W1 of the United States Air Force while in training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio in 1956. Among the regular soldiers are five African American women who served at a time when few African American women served in any branch of the United States Armed Forces.
