New York and London: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1903. Published March 1903 Seven illustrations by Howard Chandler Christy include tissue-guard frontispiece titled "As though she listened still to words in her ears." All work by Christy on heavier stock, all present and firmly attached in excellent condition. This novel by Mrs. Ward offers a list of illustrations, 490 pp plus one unpaginated. Red cloth boards show colour mottling to outside edge. Gilt title print to front board and spine. Gilt remains bright to front panel.... spine shows sunning with clear title print. No previous ownership markings. Soiling to bottom exterior edge of book. Wear to spine ends and corner tips. A most serviceable book.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good.
