Boston: George Coolidge, 1865. First Thus. Hardcover. Fine. Illustrated with color lithographs. 12mo. Pp. 128 followed by 21 pp. of ads. Full color title page and frontis. Poems, domestic advice (how to handle servants), obstetric information, etc. Bright green blind-stamped cloth with vibrant gilt title on spine and cover. Fine.
Includes solar and lunar information; a page for daily memoranda (remains blank), and; text (including anniversaries, events, and maxims) specific for each month. Provides an informative portrait of American life in 1866, especially by way of ads, for a perfumery, stereoscopes, silversmiths, washing and wringing machines, etc. One, for Goodyear's Rubber Store, proffers products ("infants dress protectors") utilizing Charles Goodyear's profound invention, vulcanized rubber.
