About This Item

BELLAIRS, John. The Lamp from the Warlock's Tomb. Frontispiece by Edward Gorey. NY: Dial [1988]. 8vo, [vi] 170pp. Maroon quarter-cloth stamped in gold with light blue boards. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket.

First edition, library issue, having the same binding as the trade issue, but being smythe-sewn (not just glued) and with publisher's library label across lower spine of dust jacket. Anthony Monday and Miss Eells find an oil lamp with pictures painted in blue on its base. Unfortunately, they are unaware that the lamp was stolen from an underground tomb that was the site for many occult rituals. So, when Anthony lights the lamp, they are shocked to find mysterious and monstrous forces unleashed. Can they stop this satanic power before it destroys the world? The third of the Anthony Monday novels.
