[iix], ix-xi, [blank],13-143 pp. A good copy with a bit of sunning to the spine and some evidence of age, internally sound and clean. FIRST EDITION. Only 1500 copies of this edition were printed. These seven essays, covering in subject a wide range of literature, theology, and philosophy, were considered by Eliot to be his finest prose work since THE SACRED WOOD of 1920.
