Classic work on New Mexico by this Illinois-born author, who migrated to California where she lived first in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and later in the Carmel area (where the writers Jack London and George Sterling also lived and wrote,) and who finally moved to Santa Fe as a result of her work on this book.
