Copyright page states 1904, but 1925 Popular Edition issued with a color frontispiece and black and white plates. Color plates were discontinued after 1935. Color pastedown on cover of book. Book is tight and square with very light rubbing to corners and spine ends. Pages are clean with no writing of any kind. A very good copy. Book is protected in a custom cut clear mylar cover. All books will be carefully wrapped and shipped in a box..
Synopsis
Book 2 of L. Frank Baum's immortal OZ series. Originally published 1904 by Reilly & Britton in Chicago, the title of the popular children’s novel by L. Frank Baum, The Marvelous Land of Oz, was shortened to The Land of Oz within the year. In The Land of Oz, an orphan boy named Tip lives under the guardianship of a wicked witch named Mombi. He intends to scare her with a pumpkin-headed wooden man he made when she returns home, but alas, she is not frightened and instead brings the wooden man Tip created to life with her newly bought Powder of Life. Later that night, Tip and the pumpkin-headed man named Jack Pumpkinhead escape with the Powder of Life, joined by a sawhorse Tip brought to life. They then proceed to partake in adventures throughout Oz, and Tip discovers the secret of his past.
