About This Item

London, U.K.: Davis-Poynter Ltd., 1972. Scholarly text examines the significance of the Australian frontier and the similarity to the American West, and explains the lure Australia seems to have for many American settlers today and how they have reacted to it. The author describes how the colonisation of America, in the first instance by religious non-conformists, and of Australia by convicts from Britain helped to form very different social structures in the two countries, yet the first Australians and Americans were in many ways similar in outlook since both were weaned in hostile countries without European amenities. 299 pgs. Inscribed, dated and signed by John Greenway on the front endpaper. Dustjacket is price-clipped on the lower front inside flap and in mylar. Lower front corner and lower spine edge of text cover slightly bumped. Minimal shelfwear.. Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
