A book about the Thule, who had managed for decades to maintain an advanced, self-sufficient, independent Inuit culture. 431 pp. plus: Notes, Glossary, Bibliography, Index. Book, "is without doubt, one of the finest, most illuminating books ever written about the Inuit. But it is also a marvelously revealing book about us, for it provides an alternate view of what, and who, we are. . . " (Farley Mowat). Book has gray paper covered boards bound with a white cloth spine with copper gilt text, and is illustrated throughout with drawings/ BW photographs.
