Indianapolis & New York: The Bobbs-Merrill Company. Good/No Dust Jacket. 1943. First Edition. Hard Cover. FIRST EDITION. 367 pages, with index, blue and white endpaper maps, 2 maps within, and photo illustrations. NO DUST JACKET. Maroon cloth binding is solid, but shows heavy wear at edges and bumping at corners, with boards in some spots showing through the cloth. Interior shows some foxing (discoloring) to text areas, but is otherwise clean with no marking or writing within. Not including the frontispiece the list of illustrations notes 14 pages of photos added; 12 pages of photos are present. There is no evidence of the page being excised, it could be a printers' error . or - it is possible that page was never inserted due to war time censoring (This is a rare WW II war-time publication telling the story of a battle before all was concluded and these publications were subjected to war time censors). Stated First Edition.This fascinating first-person account of the early World War II days on the Solomon Islands comes in dark red boards with gold printing on the front cover and on the spine. The exterior of the book has worn areas on all four corners and at the top and bottom of the spine as well as some dark staining areas on both the front and rear covers and a slight indentation spot on the front cover. The interior book has the former owner's name on two of the front pages, various pages throughout with some foxing on them and the paper has browned a little bit from the original. but otherwise has no other visible distracting extraneous markings within the book and thus has all printing, illustrations, and photographs in a well-preserved and enjoyable condition.This book will be carefully wrapped up and padded and then boxed and sent right away to you from here in New Jersey and will come to you with our honest appreciation for your interest and for your order.
