All written by one of the members of that family, making it first-hand eye-witness information. It details harvesting food with bow and arrow, armed encounters with on-the-run-criminals, being good friends with the Native Americans, and just plain pleasant family life unadorned with recently-invented electric light, telephones, and automobiles. It is also a little-known part of Western United States History. The forward to the book was written by Earl Stanley Gardner, the author of the famed 'Perry Mason' mysteries and a mid-20th Century adventurer in his own right and a long-time friend of the author.
