About This Item

Toronto: McClelland & Stewart, 1971. 2nd Printing. Hardcover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Courtney C.J. Bond (Maps). Companion to The National Dream. Hardcover in red cloth with railway spike silhouette pressed to the front board and gilt titling to the spine. Illustrated endpapers. Includes b&w Maps, Cast of Major Characters, Chronology, bibliographical references and an Index. The book is square, the binding firm, and the cloth is bright and handsome with only very minor wear. Presents as at least very good except for the foxing on the text block. Top edge dull. The half title also shows some browning, but otherwise the foxing penetrates only slightly and the interior has little evidence of discolouration. The unclipped dust jacket is edge worn, rubbed, and feels a little drab. Top edge with some browning.

About Pulp & Circumstance

Welcome to Pulp & Circumstance on Biblio. Once a brick and mortar bookseller, I am pleased that I can now offer scarce and/or collectible books and other items via this platform.

P&C strives to ensure that all items are clean and fairly described. Packages will be wrapped with care and dispatched as soon as feasible, usually on the next business day.

We do not use stock photos. All our photos are of the actual item offered for sale. We try to include the publishers' own descriptions of content by including photos of dust jacket flaps and back covers so far as they seem useful, and we also use photos to show material flaws where we can.

The "Pulp & Circumstance" watermark you might notice in some of our photos does not, of course, appear on any of the items themselves.

Please note that the colour in our photos often fails to come out right. The hue shifts a bit due to the limitations of our equipment, the lighting in our workshop, and of course my own lack of photographic expertise.

Shipping costs per book are always cheaper when more than one book is sent in the same package. Read more about shipping charges in "Terms of Sale" below.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have by email. We will usually respond within 24 hours. Happy browsing!
