New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, 1962. First printing. Cloth hardcover. Octavo. [x], 177 pages. Near fine in a good dust jacket. Some light rubs to extremities. Jacket has some closed edge tears repaired with tape from underside by prior owner, along with some light soil and minor extremity rubs. Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with spine titled in black. Attractive copy.. Black and white photographs. An account of the tragic loss of the school-ship Albatross in a sudden squall on May 2, 1961. Chuck Gieg was one of the teenaged students on board who survived the incident. Alice Sheldon, who owned and operated the ship with her husband, was lost as were four students and the ship's cook. The Ridley Scott film "White Squall" is based on this incident. <br /> <br /> This copy is inscribed and signed by young Gieg in the year of publication on a sticker that is affixed to the front free endpaper. A rather scarce book.
